Two AL leaders killed in Natore, Lalmonirhat
Two local Awami League men were murdered in Natore and Lalmonirhat districts yesterday and the day before.
An local AL leader was beaten to death in Tetanpara area under Bagatipara upazila of Natore yesterday morning, reports our correspondent.
The deceased is Mozzammel Haq alias Maznu Master, 62, senior vice president of 9 No ward AL of Natore municipality and former centre-in-charge (CIC) of Natore Sugar Mill.
Police and family sources said, a gang of criminals swooped on the house of Maznu Master in the area and forced him to go with them on a motorbike. They then beat up the AL leader mercilessly, leaving him dead on the spot.
The reason behind the killing could not be known immediately, said police.
In Lalmonirhat, a local AL leader was killed allegedly by his younger brother and nephews at Char Kahatamari in Sadar upazila on Friday, reports our correspondent.
The dead is Biroz Ali Munshi, 70, president of 7 No ward AL of Kulaghat union unit and a resident of the village, said police.
On Friday night, an arbitration was called to settle a quarrel between Abu Bakkar Siddque and Abdur Rahim, younger brothers of the deceased.
In the arbitration, Abdur Rahim and his son Abdul Barek beat up the AL leader and his younger brother Abu Bakkar siddique, leaving Biroz dead on the spot and Bakkar injured.
