Main opposition BNP has demanded that the government bring to justice whom the party termed ‘real culprits' responsible for attacking Hindus across the country.
“We urge the government and the law enforcing agencies to take swift action in this regard,” Bangla daily Prothom Alo quoted BNP standing committee member Mahbubur Rahman as saying.
He was addressing a press briefing at his Banani residence today.
“Those involved in such incidents cannot have any other identity. They are miscreants who want to encourage communalism and destroy the history of our communal harmony,” he added.
Terming the ongoing movement of BNP democratic and non-violent, Mahbubur claimed that a vested quarter is trying to realise its anti-public interest by putting the blame on the party.
Leaders and activists of BNP are aware against such attempts, the BNP leader said.
