Truck helper killed in Chandpur petrol bomb attack
A truck helper has been crushed dead while trying to escape a petrol bomb attack in Battala area of Chandpur Sadar upazila.
The victim, whose identity was not known immediately, is around 45 years old, police said.
His trousers were found burnt in fire, Md Abdul Kaiyum, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chandpur Sadar Police Station, told our correspondent there.
Unidentified miscreants hurled the petrol bomb at the tiles-laden truck in Ghosherhat area under Shahmahmudpur union around 11:00pm Wednesday, the OC said.
The helper was crushed under the wheels of the moving truck when he tried to get off from it to save himself.
His died on the spot as his upper part of the body was totally crushed.
The driver and owner of the vehicle made it safe in the attack, the police claim but they could not trace them yet.
The ill-fated vehicle crashed into a nearby ditch.
The vehicle was heading for Chandpur town from Narayanganj, the police official added.
