Train ploughs into Ctg railway platform
A Dhaka-bound train ploughed through the platform when it entered Chittagong Railway Station to pick up passengers this morning.
None was hurt during the incident as the train, Mohanagar Provati Express, was totally empty, our Chittagong correspondent reports quoting Abdul Kalam Azad, stationmaster of Chittagong railway.
The railway authorities later suspended Loco master of the train Zahirul Haque, assistant loco master Emran Hossain and shanting staff Md Jahangir for their negligence in the duty, the stationmaster said.
Meantime, the authorities formed two separate committees to probe the incident, he added.
According to the stationmaster, the train entered the station from its yard to pick up Dhaka-bound passenger around 5:30am.
But its engine along with a bogie veered of the tracks and crashed into the platform as the loco master failed to break the train, Azad said.
The train however left the station for Dhaka with passengers around 7:00am.
