Tigers fold for 254 in poor batting show
Bangladeshi batsmen only managed to take a 14-run lead while chasing Zimbabwe's 240 runs in the first innings of first Test match at Mirpur’s Sher-e Bangla National Stadium today.
Zimbabwean bowler Tinashe Panyangara picked up 5 important wickets during the Tigers' innings.
Ace allrounder Shakib Al Hasan failed to shine with his bat as he was tremendous with the ball after he returned from the ban.
Mushfiqur, Mahmudullah and Mominul Haque, however, added three half-centuries to the scorecard .
Earlier on Day 1, Zimbabwe won the toss and decided to bat first. Their innings was closed with 240 runs in 75.5 overs.
In reply, Bangladesh went to the crease and lost the wicket of ace opener Tamim Iqbal. Panyangara was the predator of Tamim.
The Day 1 finished with 27 runs to Bangladesh’s scorecard for a wicket in 12 overs.
