The magnificence of birds
A two-day photography exhibition titled “A Birdland Called Bangladesh” took place on December 5-6 at Drik Gallery in the capital. The exhibition was organised by Bangladesh Bird Club, an organisation working on the conservation and observation of local birds. The exhibition featured a set of 51 photographs captured by 21 photographers of Bangladesh Bird Club.
Bangladesh is generally referred as a land of river, but the country has always been a haven for birds. Starting from the familiar Kingfisher to uncommon names like Jungle Babbler, Jerdon’s Baza, Green Bea-eater and many more, the exhibition presented amazing photos of birds to the visitors.
Watching birds and photographing the marvelous creatures in flight have always been a passion for some people, and the exhibition is a result of their curiosity and desire to showcase the birds in prints, as well as in introducing urbanites with the birds of our country. The photos were captured from different regions of the country, including the hill tracts.
The exhibition had some eye-catching images while some were a little mediocre, but it deserves applause for its appeal for the conservation of birds at a time when birds are being endangered by human beings.
