Thai PM greets Hasina
Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra today congratulated Sheikh Hasina on her assumption of office as the prime minster of Bangladesh for a second straight time.
The premier of the Kingdom of Thailand urged that the continued leadership and relations between the two countries will be further broadened and strengthened in the future.
She also determined to work closely for the mutual benefits of the two countries and peoples.
Sheikh Hasina was sworn in as the prime minister for a third time on January 12 after her party Awami League won a two-thirds majority in the boycotted January 5 national elections.
Earlier, India, China, Russia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, Nepal, Belarus and World Health Organisation (WHO), International Organisation for Migration (IOM) congratulated Sheikh Hasina on her re-election as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. Meanwhile, the UN, EU, US, UK and other western powers expressed their disappointment over the one-sided election and called for initiating an inclusive political process.
