Tender Hands Roll Wheels
Women are not lagging behind in joining the work which requires hard physical labour.
Some female workers are working hard in a glass factory which produces bottles and other items at Kanchpur of Sonargaon in Narayanganj district near the capital Dhaka.
They toil for 8-hour work shift with utmost care. Inside the factory the heat is so much that if they do not cover their faces with a piece of cloth while working their faces would get burnt. The factory owners have provided pedestal fans in a bid to give the workers some relief but that is not to much avail.
A worker get Tk 3,000 to Tk 6,000 per month which is too meager to meet their family expenses. The workers suffer from various work related diseases like Asthma and difficulty in breathing but when they fall sick the owners do not give them any assistance.
Selina, Maleka and some other workers said they have to work for dire need to survive with their family members.
Many of the female workers have to bring their babies to the workplace who are also being exposed to the hazards of their mother's workplace.
