Tarique sends legal notice to AL MP over 'derogatory' remark
BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman today sent a legal notice to Awami League lawmaker Hasan Mahmud asking him to apologise for making “derogatory” comment against him.
Mahmud on Tuesday reportedly told a meeting at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity that Tarique and Arafat Rahman Koko, sons of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, deposited money to Swiss banks.
Tarique in his legal notice urged Mahmud to place evidence on the allegation he made against the two brothers in two weeks or seek apology to him and people of the country.
Otherwise, legal actions will be taken against the lawmaker, Tarique said in the notice.
After sending the notice to Mahmud, Tarique’s lawyer Barrister Kayser Kamal told reporters that Tarique or Koko have no bank account with any Swiss banks.
Mahmud has intentionally made the comment to undermine Tarique’s political position, Kamal added.
