Tarique Rahman sued in districts
Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men in several districts sued BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman yesterday for his derogatory remarks against Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, report our correspondents.
BCL Banshkhali upazila general secretary Shihabul Haque Shikdar, on behalf of the Chittagong district unit, sued Tarique Rahman with a Chittagong court yesterday for terming Bangabandhu a “Razakar”.
On 15 December 2014, Tarique Rahman at a discussion of BNP UK unit at Atrium Banquet Hall in East London allegedly made the remark adding that Sheikh Mujib never fought for the liberation of Bangladesh.
Sylhet city BCL president Rahat Tarafder filed a case with the Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Sylhet yesterday against Tarique Rahman for his 'unwanted and unacceptable' comments against the state and the father of the nation.
Secretary of BCL Bogra district unit Masharafi Hero filed a similar defamation case against Tarique with the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Court-02 Ferdous Wahid Bogra yesterday noon.
Munshiganj town unit president Md Nasibun Islam Nobel also filed a defamation case against Tarique with the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Harun-or-Rashid yesterday.
In Magura, a summon was issued yesterday for Tarique Rahman to appear before a court within January 25 after Magura district unit BCL president Sheikh Rezaul Islam filed a case with the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Yasmin Begum yesterday, reports our Jhenidah correspondent.
