9 human traffickers arrested, 18 rescued

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) today arrested nine alleged human traffickers and rescued 18 people, who were waiting to be moved to Middle East countries. Tipped-off, a team of Rab raided different areas in Farmgate and Kawran Bazar in Dhaka and arrested the alleged traffickers along with nine passports with fake visas of Iraq and other countries in Middle East, said Lt Col KM Azad, commanding officer of Rab-2. Rajshahi police, after arresting three people from Bogra, said two of the detainees claimed responsibilities for the murder on social media. “They claimed their responsibility for Shafiul's murder on a Facebook page of militant outfit Ansar Al Islam Bangladesh-2,” said M Shamsuddin, commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police.
