‘Mugger’ killed in ‘gunfight’ in capital

An alleged mugger was killed in a “gunfight” with members of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) at Khilgaon in the capital early today. A pistol loaded with at least three rounds of bullets was recovered from the spot, Deputy Commissioner (DB-PR) of DMP Masudur Rahman told the Daily Star. He said a DB team was patrolling the Khilgaon Bishwa Road area on information that an organised gang of criminals were committing mugging in the area regularly at midnight.
