The Supreme Court today upheld the death penalty of two persons in a case filed for killing Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) president Kazi Aref Ahmed and four others in 1999. An upazila-level leader of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) was gunned down by unidentified criminals in Mirpur of Kushtia Monday morning. A villager also sustained bullet wounds during the attack, reports our Kushtia correspondent. Deceased Ismail Hossain Panjer, 55, was JSD vice-president of Mirpur upazila unit. He was accused in a dozen of cases including murders, said Shahidul Islam, officer-in-charge of Mirpur Police Station.
