A Dhaka court today extended bail to four BNP leaders including its acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir till June 17 in two murder cases filed with Ramna Police Stations. The three other leaders are: Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Aman Ullah Aman and Sirajul Islam. Metropolitan Magistrate Anwar Sadat passed the order after Fakhrul and the three other accused appeared before the court this morning and sought extension of their bail period. A Dhaka court yesterday rejected bail pleas by three BNP leaders, including acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, and sent them to jail in three murder cases linked to pre-polls anti-government protest. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday announced her government will open a fresh inquiry into the 10-truck arms haul cases as the names of Hawa Bhaban and BNP chief Khaleda Zia have emerged during the probe and trial in the sensational cases. “The trial has been completed. But an inquiry is required to identify those involved in the arms smuggling conspiracy. And we'll do it,” she told parliament after her party lawmakers demanded Khaleda's trial for arms smuggling. The High Court yesterday granted bail to four BNP leaders for different periods in arson attack and vandalism cases.     They are Moudud Ahmed, Khandker Mahbub Hossain, Sadeque Hossain Khoka and Maj (retd) Hafizuddin Ahmed.
