HT Imam denies assuring BCL men of help

Four days after assuring Bangladesh Chhatra League activists of help in viva voce of civil service exams and saying that Awami League benefited from party men during the January 5 parliamentary polls, prime minister’s adviser HT Imam has denied saying these. Amid continuing criticism over his statement made at a BCL programme at Dhaka University, the PM’s political adviser convened a press conference at AL President Sheikh Hasina’s political office in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi today where he alleged that his statement was distorted. HT Imam’s statement is reported to have irked the premier herself, according to sources. Today, he asserted that he had insisted BCL activists to study hard and alleged that the...

Providing BCL cadres with jobs by any means!

WE were heartened by the prime minister's exhortations to the country's youths when she urged them to become self-reliant and not take to lobbying for job as it was not a dignified pursuit. However, her adviser H.T. Imam's statement during a discussion at the Dhaka University essentially contradicted her by suggesting that once the BCL members got over the hurdle of written tests at the civil service exams  the rest would be left to them (Imam and his likes)...

Cheers for BCL

Cheers for BCL

It is good news for the Bangladesh Chhatra League men but a shock for others aspiring to be bureaucrats. The BCL men will just have to try and get over the hurdle of written test in civil service examinations. "We will see how much we can help you with the viva voce," pledged HT Imam, one of the advisers to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, at a discussion at Dhaka University yesterday.  "Our leader [Sheikh Hasina] has told us to arrange jobs for you by any means," he said. Quizzically though, the prime minister had said just the opposite at a meeting the day before. Speaking at the Digital Centre Entrepreneurs Conference, the PM...
