'Findings of researches can be used in formulating policies'

The findings of researches can be used while formulating policies and devising strategies, thus giving researches the due credit, Prof Dr AKM Nurun Nabi of Dhaka University (DU) said yesterday.
He was speaking at a programme titled 'Research Day' organised by Dhaka University Alumni Association of Population Sciences (DUAAPS) in association with the Department of Population Sciences and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) at the Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.
DU Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Harun-Or-Rashid inaugurated the programme as the chief guest.
He congratulated the Department of Population Sciences on its one decade of excellence and lauded the research works conducted by the students of the department, which have a good contribution to the development sector.
Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed, dean, Faculty of Social Sciences at DU, Afsana Taher, operations manager of UNFPA Bangladesh, and Md Mehedi Hasan Khan, chairperson of Department of Population Sciences, were also present.
A total of 15 research papers were presented at the programme on migration, urbanisation and HIV/AIDS; fertility and family planning; and the utilisation of healthcare in three separate sessions. |
