Leaders, supporters and well-wishers of Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) at a reunion yesterday called on the left-leaning democratic forces to work hand in hand to build a country where division among people will no longer exist.

CPB organised the reunion at Engineers' Institute in the city to mark its 62nd founding anniversary.

Many age-old people, who were engaged in CPB actively, along with hundreds of the party leaders, their well-wishers and supporters from different walks of life thronged the institute and shared their thoughts.

The institute premises and its surrounding areas were decorated with colourful banners and festoons with socialist slogans for building an exploitation-free society.

Addressing the reunion, CPB President Manjurul Ahsan Khan said, "We can get rid of the present crisis by waging a movement against the bipolar political forces remaining in the country."

"For this, we need to unite all the left-leaning democratic forces and to work hand in hand."

CPB General Secretary Mujahidul Islam Selim said there is no alternative but to getting united all the leftist democratic political parties.

"Government comes and government goes but the fate of poor people in the country does not change. We, all the leftist political forces, should work jointly to materialise the rights of poor people," he added.

Haidar Akbar Khan Rono, who recently joined CPB from a faction of Workers Party of Bangladesh, placed a keynote paper at the programme.

Leaders of Awami League, Samyabadi Dal, Bangladesher Workers Party, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, Gonotantri Party, Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal, Biplobi Workers Party and Sammilita Sangskritik Jote also expressed their solidarity with the programme.
