A Bangladeshi girl was shot dead by Indian Border Security Force yesterday at Roumari border of the district.

She was identified as Monjura, 13, daughter of Anwar Hossain of village Bhandur Char of the upazila.

BDR and local sources said BSF members of Sahapara BOP camp fired on three teenage girls around 6:00pm as they went to Kalo Dewanir Ghat along the border to pluck flowers.

At that time Monjura received a bullet and died on the spot.

Lt Colonel Mizanur Rahman, 6 Rifle Battalion Commander in Jamalpur district, confirmed the incident.

A protest letter will be sent to BSF in this connection.

The BDR men at the border have been ordered to stay alert, said Mizanur Rahman.
