Staying out of govt could be better: Ershad
Jatiya Party chief HM Ershad today said it would have been better had his party remained out of the Awami League-led government while acting as the main opposition in the parliament.
He however thinks it is the party's prime duty to critique the government actions as the main opposition in the parliament.
Ershad said this, while attending a programme at a school in Banani, as reporters asked whether JP can simultaneously be pro-active as part of government and opposition
"People of the country will like if Jatiya Party, being a part of the government, can evaluate the government's own action," he added.
Claiming that there is no internal feud in his party, Ershad said: "Jatiya Party means Ershad, Jatiya Party means Langol (plough)."
He said it is he who would distribute the election symbol to the nominees during the next elections.
"It would be an unworthy attempt if someone tries to stand in the way," he stressed.
