6th session of Dhaka University National Model United Nations
Dhaka University Model United Nations Associations (DUMUNA), the most prestigious organisation of University of Dhaka, is going to organise the 6th session of Dhaka University National Model United Nations (DUNMUN) from December 18 to December 21, 2017.
The opening ceremony on December 18, 2017, will be inaugurated by Honorable Pro-Vice Chancellor of University of Dhaka (Academic), Professor Dr Nasreen Ahmad. The ceremony will also be attended by Nahim Razzaq, M.P, Member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee of the Ministry for Youth and Sports; Sadia Faizunnesa, Director General (United Nations); Delwar Hossain, Moderator of DUMUNA; Sudipto Mukerjee, UNDP Country Director of Bangladesh; and Mohammad Moniruzzaman, National Information Officer, (UNIC).
On December 21, the closing ceremony will be presided over by Nasrul Hamid, MP, Hon'ble State Minister of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources. Professor Dr Kamal Uddin, Treasurer of University of Dhaka; Farooq Sobhan, Former Ambassador of Bangladesh; and Mia Seppo, UN Resident Coordinator in Bangladesh, will also be present as the special guests. The Opening and Closing ceremonies will be held in Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building.
It is to be noted that, Dhaka University National Model United Nations 2017 is a conference sketching the procedure of United Nations General Assembly, where students from home and abroad delegate for different countries of the world. Over five hundred students from home and abroad including United Kingdom, South Korea, Somalia, India, Nepal, Afghanistan and so on will be participating in DUNMUN 2017. The theme of the conference this year is "Towards Global Amity: Cooperation for Inclusive Future".
Dhaka University Model United Nations Association (DUMUNA) has been organising this conference in collaboration with United Nations Information Centre and East Asia Study Centre as the strategic partners since 2012.
