Rising intolerance?
Two articles published in the Star Weekend on January 29, 2018, reflected experiences of discrimination faced by Dhaka's residents. "Tenants: At the mercy of landlords" and "Single-shaming in Dhaka" both point to rising intolerance of people of different religions, backgrounds and circumstances in our society. From where has this new trend emerged?

Why aren't more men involved in child rearing?
A harsh reality was highlighted by the writer of this article in the last issue of the Star Weekend. Our society is still highly patriarchal where an archaic mindset prevails that women should be the only ones to take care of children while men will work to earn money. In almost every household, women have had to sacrifice a lot, especially after marriage and childbirth where they left their own jobs to bring up their children. It is the duty of both the parents to raise their child—only one should not bear the burden. Fathers can contribute much to their children's lives.
