The 'hero' of the novel Majnu, unlike his very backward name is pretty forward as a character. His life story, may not be the same but just as diverse and struggling as the writer himself.
The 'heroine' of this love story, Ratri is, as usual, an urban rich girl in love with a poor guy without a permanent job in the city and can hardly make ends meet.
Right from the beginning of the story, they have usual lovey-dovey conversations, the girl gives him grocery money, buys him things, recharges his phone balance, gets mad at small things, deactivates Facebook account, and every boring activity possible, including putting an extra one thousand taka note in the secret pocket of his 'moneybag' for emergencies only.
Bored? Wait! Majnu's moneybag gets pick pocketed before the second page ends. And from that moment onwards things starts to unravel and the story starts to become intense. Contrast between Majnu's past and present, Ratri's last text- 'wait for the unexpected' before switching off her phone, all of these will seem pale as real, not metaphorical at all, 'moneybag' becomes the main character or rather the 'hero' of the story.
The writer being a poet and lyricist, writes this very fast moving novel with a poets precision making the fiery storyline an easy read for the readers.
