Can't It Be Stopped?
My only brother Lipu, who was a student of North South University, was kidnapped on August 31, 2014. We paid the kidnappers off but my brother was still not returned to his family. We searched anxiously for him for 13 days and finally came to know that my brother was killed, as he had seen his kidnappers and could recognise them. It's been two months since his disappearance but we have yet to get his body. Since his murder, we, his family, have forgotten how to smile. Existing without him has become a hard reality. Everyday, numerous boys and girls are cruelly snatched from their loved ones. Can't anyone ensure justice to families like us and do something to stop this abhorrence?

Endless Misery
After the end of a long, tiring day, I was waiting for a bus at Sangshad Avenue, where the traffic is comparatively less hectic, to return home. However, despite waiting there for quite sometime, I could not find any public transport for hire. After a while, I noticed that the movement of traffic in that area was considerably thin, compared to the usual scene when the roads are clogged with different kinds of vehicles. Finding no other alternative, I began to walk home after an agonising 75-minute wait. It took me around 90 minutes to get home. I later came to know that the traffic was due to a reception programme being organised at the premises of Sangshad Bhaban. Our honorable prime minister had attended the reception as the chief guest, and the traffic movement was halted to ensure her security. If it is the question of security of the prime minister or any other politician, I really don't have anything to say, as it is the duty of the state to provide them with adequate security as per the law. However, couldn't they inform commuters of the specific area that the traffic situation might be bad, as a programme of such stature was being organised there? This would help commuters and travelers to take an alternate road to avoid the discomfort. I wonder when our leaders will become more proactive and pro-people. We should always remember that nothing good can be achieved by keeping the people beleaguered, and the vehicle movement suspended.
