Tushar, Jayed shine on Day One
National openers Soumya Sarkar and Imrul Kayes failed to make an impact in the Bangladesh Cricket League, the country’s premier four-day cricket competition, upon their return from India as the duo were dismissed for 26 and 31 respectively.
Tushar Imran however, scored an unbeaten 127 and Shahriar Nafees posted half-century to help Prime Bank South Zone recover after the fall of the high-profile batsmen against BCB North Zone at the BKSP on the first day of the fourth round of the BCL.
In the day’s other fixture at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, Walton Central Zone were reduced to 232 for 7 thanks to a four-wicket haul from Abu Jayed. The pacer, who had gone to India and featured in the practice match, continued his good run in the domestic front by dismissing the top four Walton Central Zone batsmen and helped Islami Bank East Zone gain an edge after the end of Day One.
