'I'm neither saint nor devil'
Cristiano Ronaldo slammed his critics in an extraordinary rant in the wake of Real Madrid's title triumph on Sunday.
The Portuguese forward scored the opening goal as Real downed Malaga 2-0 to pip Barcelona to the Liga title, prompting jubilant scenes amongst Zinedine Zidane's troops.
However, despite firing Real to the cusp of a first Liga-European Cup double since 1958, the 32-year-old has an army of detractors – with even his own fans booing him on occasions.
It seems to have got to him. Basking in Real's first league title since 2012, Ronaldo wasted no time in sitting down his critics in brutal fashion.
“People talk about me and don't know anything,” Ronaldo told Marca.
“When people talk about me they get it wrong, inside and outside of football – football critics don't worry me because I know doing the analysis, people will shut up.
“They always have two stones in their hands when I speak. I am not a saint, but I'm not a devil either, which is what many people say I am.”
