Griezmann will ‘definitely’ join Man Utd
France’s legendary midfielder Emmanuel Petit has claimed that countryman Antoine Griezmann will ‘definitely’ leave Spanish side Atletico Madrid to join Manchester United in the summer.
Griezmann has widely been reported as Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho’s primary transfer target and the speculation has been ramped up since the revelation that he has an 110-million-euro release clause in his contract, a figure the Manchester giants could easily come up with if they choose to do so.
Despite Griezmann voicing his happiness at Atletico, Petit is confident that the 25-year-old will move to Old Trafford at the end of the season, speaking of the forward's close relationship with Paul Pogba as a key factor.
"I think he will come to Manchester United, definitely," Petit told Soccer AM. "He has a great partnership with Pogba [who is a Manchester United player] in the national team, they are very good friends as well. He will bring goals, assists and his winning mentality as well."
“I think it will be a bargain,” Petit added.
Griezmann has scored 74 times in 141 appearances for Atletico in all competitions since joining the capital giants from Real Sociedad in 2014. This season, the attacker has 17 goals in 34 matches, including four in the Champions League.
