Emeka powers Sheikh Jamal
Nigerian marksman Emeka Darlington scored a hattric as defending champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club thrashed Feni Soccer Club 6-2 in their Manyavar Bangladesh Premier League encounter at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday.
The Dhanmondi outfit, who came into the match on back of a 2-2 draw against Rahmatganj MFS, got off to a sparkling start with the fastest goal of the season as Gambian forward Landing Darboe headed in a cross from Sohel Rana within only 27 seconds of start.
Wedson Anselme made it in the 15th minute before Emeka joined in on the act with a placing shot in the 24th minute. The Nigerian doubled his tally three minutes later with a drive from inside the box.
Feni Soccer responded with Jatta Mustafa brilliantly beating Sheikh Jamal goalkeeper Mazharul Islam with a cracking shot in the 37th minute but Landing struck his second goal with a side-volley in the 77th minute.
Feni Soccer pulled anther back with substitute Sharan Hawlader tapping in from point blank range in the 82nd minute but Emeka restored the four-goal cushion and completed his treble three minutes from time to extend Sheikh Jamal's lead over Mohammedan to four points.
