Imtiaz, Raqibul take Prime DSC to 287
A brilliant start allowed Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club to pile up 287 for 6 in 50 overs after Kalabagan Cricket Academy captain Mahmudul Hasan opted to bowl first at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium, Fatullah today.
Prime Doleshwar rode on the first wicket stand of 112 inside 20 overs, and were well placed at 201 for 2 in the 40th over. Kalabagan bowlers fought back with wickets and stalled Prime late in their innings. Imtiaz Ahmed was the top-scorer for Prime Doleshwar with his 86 from 94. The right-handed opener is carrying on his good form in DPL 2016 with two centuries and 88 in his last match against Mohammedan. Robiul Islam made 50 while Raqibul posted his second highest score in the ongoing DPL with 66.
For Kalabagan Cricket Academy, the wickets came rather late for their liking, and four of their bowlers picked up a wicket each. Mehedi Hasan Miraz had the best figures with 2-47 in nine overs today.
At BKSP’s No. 3 ground, Abahani Limited reached 276 for 6 in 50 overs thanks to a belligerent 90 from their Indian recruit Rajat Bhatia after Gazi Group Cricketers skipper Alok Kapali decided to field first.
Abahani captain Tamim Iqbal made his fourth 50-plus score in DPL 2016 with 55 from 66 balls today. When his side was meandering at 155 for 4 inside 33 overs, Rajat and Mosaddek Hossain steered Abahani to a challenging total. Rajat struck nine fours and two sixes in his unbeaten knock while Mosaddek made 47 from 46.
Gazi Group captain Kapali used nine bowlers today to restrict Abahani, and four of them grabbed a wicket each. Mahedi Hasan was the pick of the bowlers with 2-32 in eight overs on a rather placid track at Savar.
A lower-order rescue act from Nazmul Hossain Milon and Habibur Rahman gave Mohammedan bowlers something to bowl at after they were all out for 224 in 49.2 overs after Prime Bank Cricket Club captain Shuvagata Hom won the toss and elected to bowl first at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur today.
At 5-41 inside 14 overs, Mohammedan were staring down the barrel, but Nazmul made 64 from 82 with six fours and Habibur reached his highest score in DPL 2016 with 50 from 64 balls to keep Prime Bank bowlers at bay.
Rubel Hossain and Monir Hossain picked up two wickets for Prime Bank. Mohammad Azim recorded his best bowling figures in the ongoing DPL with 3-40 in 10 overs.
