Abdul Hadi no more
A cricket enthusiast, a threatening swing-bowler and a pioneer when it comes to coaching in Bangladesh; there are few in the cricketing arena who aren't aware of Abdul Hadi Ratan's contribution to the game.
Unfortunately for the country's cricketing fraternity, he passed away early morning yesterday due to a renal failure. He was 61.
Ratan had served as a coach of the BCB's Game Development Department from 2005 to 2014.
He began his distinguished career in cricket coaching in the mid 90s after a long domestic cricket career in which he played mostly for Rupali Bank in the Dhaka League. He was associated with the BCB's age group programmes and worked extensively with the under 14, under 16 and under 18 groups since joining the BCB in 2005. His main role was that of Dhaka Metro Coach. He had also been a head coach for first class teams and junior national teams and an assistant coach of the National Team.
The BCB extended its heartfelt sympathies to the family of the departed yesterday.
