Bangladesh saunter past Singapore
Bangladesh stormed into their second successive win in the AFC Under-16 Women Championship’s Group C Qualifiers when they beat the Singapore lightweights 5-0 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium today.
The home side, who won their opening game against Iran 3-0 two days ago, led the first half 1-0. Captain Krishna Rani Das scored the first two goals much to the delight of an impressive home crowd. Anu ching Mogini and Moushumi also put their names on the score-sheet after the break in a match where the Bangladesh girls played the role as attackers against a defensive Singapore.
Despite the victory Bangladesh are in the second position on goal difference behind Chinese Taipei, who followed their 7-1 thrashing of Kyrgyzstan with a 5-0 win against UAE in the other two fixtures today. Iran, who made it to the finals from Group C two years ago, put behind the Bangladesh defeat with a 9-0 cakewalk against Kyrgyzstan with whom Bangladesh will play their next game on August 31.
