I play because I enjoy myself, says Shakib
Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan is heading to the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and the World’s best all-rounder says that he is excited about the prospect.
“Yes, it’s very enjoyable. Every tournament presents new experience, fun and excitement. I have been playing cricket for the last 10-15 years. Wherever I play, it’s enjoyable. I play because I enjoy myself,” Shakib said while talking to reporters.
The all-rounder said that he enjoys CPL more because the ‘seriousness’ of the match stays on the pitch and not off it. He also added that players like to stay relaxed and in the Caribbean there are a lot of beautiful places to enjoy.
He also sees West Indies pitches having a bit of help for the spinners and that makes things easier for him.
Regarding the difference between the CPL and IPl, Shakib said: “At the IPL there are ten foreign players in every team. The competition for places is much harder there.
“Even if you do well in one match you might not feature in the next match due to team combination situations.
“At The CPL and PSL, at least four players stay fixed in the squad. They don’t change the lineup unless it’s very necessary.
“I do not see much difference other than the once I stated. The environment and quality of cricket is good at every place.”
Shakib also commented on his 50th Test match, which is set to be against Australia.
“If I was speaking about it a few years ago, I would have been happy with even 30 Tests. So it’s ok if I think on the basis of that context.
“Hopefully Australia will come and I will be fit and it could be a good series for us.”
