Son beaten dead by father in capital
A young man was beaten to death allegedly by his father at Rampura in the capital early today.
Deceased Alam, 21, son of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver Dulal Mia, was a rickshaw puller, Alamgir Hossain Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Rampura Police Station, told The Daily Star.
The father and son had a conflict as Alam got married against the will of Dulal nine months back, the OC said quoting family members.
Dulal locked into a quarrel with Alam at their Bagichartek residence Tuesday night over the matter.
As a sequel to the altercation, Dulal attacked Alam around 5:00am today and beat his son with an iron rod, the police official said.
The father fled the scene leaving Alam in a critical condition.
Alam was declared dead one hour after he was whisked off to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
