Utensils looted from temple

Burglars looted several brass made ritual utensils of an ashram, a Hindu spiritual hermitage, in Kaharol upazila in the early hours of yesterday. Police quoting Nandadulal Chakraborty, the chief of the ashram, said the residents found the temple's locks broken yesterday morning and informed them. ASP Asit Kumar Ghosh of Birganj Circle said the burglars first entered the ashram premises and then the temple by breaking open a window of the ashram's school building around 2:00am. Shreenigomananda Sarswat Sebashram, the runs on donations and founded in 1992 also provides free medical services to the poor people of the area. Earlier, on February 5 this year, some masked miscreants equipped with sharp weapons stormed inside the ashram and broke the ritual utensils.
Man killed by younger brother

A man was beaten to death allegedly by his younger brother in Kamalganj upazila on Monday. The deceased was identified as Gopichan Munda, 45, son of Rajaram Munda at Kanihati tea garden in the upazila. Motiur Rahman, sub-inspector of Kamalganj Police Station, said Radhakisan Munda, 40, beat up Gopichan indiscriminately on Sunday around 9pm when they locked in an altercation over taking drug by Gopichan. Seriously injured Gopichan was admitted to Camellia Duncan Foundation Hospital where he died on Monday evening. Radhakishan went into hiding after the incident.
