Bangladesh's premier golfer Siddikur Rahman slipped to third position in the ICTSI Philippine Open after a one-over (73) in the second round yesterday. The two-time Asian Tour winner, who started the day at top with a six-under (66) in the first round, carded two bogeys against a single birdie in the day at the challenging Wack Wack Golf and Country Club.
Siddikur's aggregate of five-under (139) put him three shots behind new leader Marcus Both of Australia, who charged into the halfway lead with a flawless six-under (66) for a total of eight-under (136).
Joint overnight leader Chan Kim of the United States bogeyed his last two holes for an even-par (72) to sit in second, one shot ahead of Siddikur.
“I'm not disappointed because we have two days more to go. Every day is a different day and it doesn't necessarily mean that you can get back into the same rhythm so that explains why I shot a 66 yesterday and a 73 today!” Siddikur told Asiantour.com after the day's play.
Meanwhile, the other Bangladeshi contestant, Jamal Hossain Bhuiyan was in joint 47th position with an aggregate score of four-over (148).
A total of 66 players qualified for the weekend rounds as the cut was set at five-over (149).
