Dear Zindagi
Director: Gauri Shinde
Writer: Gauri Shinde
Stars: Alia Bhatt, Shah Rukh Khan, Kunal Kapoor
Strength: Cast
Weakness: Story
Runtime: 151min
Rating: 3/5
PLOT: A budding cinematographer in search of a perfect life encounters with a psychiatrist, an unconventional thinker who helps her gain a new perspective on life.
REVIEW: The introductory scenes to the film give the idea of a strong, independent cinematographer, who eventually suffers heartbreak from the lover with whom she cheated on her boyfriend.
The cast chosen were very strong; the likes of Alia Bhatt, who is earning accolades with every new film, played the role of spoiled Kaira, brilliantly; Shah Rukh Khan portrays his unconventional way of thinking with finesse. His charm and charisma lights up the frame from the very beginning of his arrival; Kunal Kapoor is another addition who really provided for the film.
However, the story does not provide anything original or anything as exciting as was expected from the movie. The clichéd story of a girl in search of peace could have made a stronger impact had there been a better narration. There have been a lot of banters in the film that it is meant to have a profound philosophical meaning, however, there were not any worth remembering.
Overall the film is enjoyable to some extent, but not enough to make the viewers watch again.
