Plot: Ned Fleming along with his wife and son decide to visit their daughter, Stephanie Fleming who studies at Stanford and spend Christmas there. However, once they reach their destination, Ned comes face-to-face with every father's worst nightmare, their daughter's boyfriend. Stephanie has planned to spend
Christmas together with her family and her boyfriend. Laird Mayhew, Stephanie's boyfriend, is a billionaire who is a bit eccentric with severe boundary issues. But like every other typical boyfriend, he leaves no stones unturned to please his girlfriend's parents. Nevertheless, he slowly realizes that impressing the girlfriends father is never an easy task.
Review: Bryan Cranston (Ned Fleming) seamlessly blends into the role of the father of a young girl. From his body language right down to his expressions, everything is very convincing as the father of the girl. Zoey Deutch (Stephanie Fleming) also plays the role of the typical young, smart yet beautiful girl well. However, it's the
acting of James Franco (Laird Mayhew) as the eccentric billionaire that really stands out. He is a very versatile actor and he proves that yet again. And although, the movie is funny at the most unexpected times, overall, it just can't hold on to the audience's interest. The movie is also unnecessarily long. Throughout the movie it seems as if the writer is just trying too hard to make a cliched story seem new and different. The girl's boyfriend trying to woo the over protective father is a story that has been tried and tested too many times. Overall, the movie is just not worth watching.
