Chaplin Film Festival comes to an end
The week-long 'Charlie Chaplin Film Festival' marking the 127th birth anniversary of the silent movie legend closed its curtains at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy yesterday. The festival began last Saturday, April 16th.
Born on April 16, 1889, Sir Charles Spencer "Charlie" Chaplin, KBE was an English comic actor, filmmaker, and composer who became a worldwide icon through his screen persona "the Tramp" and is considered one of the most important figures in the history of the film industry. The Department of Dance and Film of BSA organised the festival in the International Digital Cultural Archive of Jatiya Natyashala. The start of the event was marked with the screening of the film 'Chaplin U-turn' on Saturday while his famous films 'Modern Times,' 'In the Gold Rush,' ' Laughing Gas,' 'The Fireman', 'A Dog's life', 'A Woman', 'The Bank', and 'The Immigrant' were screened at 6:30 pm throughout the week.
