Bangladeshi dance drama to be featured in Theater Olympics
Hosted by National School of Drama of New Delhi, the Theater Olympics is an event much anticipated by cultural and theater fans. In the 8th annual Theater Olympics currently going on right now, the Bangladeshi dance group Nrityanchal will be presenting their drama Rai Krishna Padabali. Written by Sheikh Hafizur Rahman, the drama is based on the dance drama Bhanusingher Padabali by Rabindranath Tagore. The two main characters of Rai and Krishna will be played by the famous dance artists Shibli Mohammad and Shamim Ara Nipa, respectively. Regarding the drama, Shamim Ara Nipa said, “Rai Krishna Padabali has more drama in it than dance parts, which is why it was selected.” Shibli Mohammad stated that dance dramas are given a lot of importance in the Theater Olympics. He added, “I sincerely believe that Rai Krishna Padabali will receive everyone's love and attention at the grand event.” Theater Olympics 2018 started on 17th February and will end on 8th April. Rai Krishna Padabali will be first featured in Patna on March 14, as well as New Delhi on March 16 and Punjab on March 17.
