VIDEO GAMES AND MARKETING
If you've been an active gamer for the past few years, you'd know what disappointment is like. Devs show us incredible technical showcases at E3, Gamescom and what not; only to fall short when they actually release the game. Our expectations go down the drain as we notice the absence of all the graphical bells and whistles we were promised at the Video Game shows. There are also innovative game mechanics which don’t make it into the final product. It makes me wonder, has video game marketing deviated so much that it now relies on false promises to encourage sales? If that is the case, I fear such video game developers will not survive in the long run. Consumers are always disgruntled by unethical marketing practices. Developers and publishers need to up their game or be more truthful about what they will give us. After all, it is our money that they are fighting for come release day.
