Shakib destroys Zimbabwe on comeback
Bangladesh ace allrounder Shakib Al Hasan literally devastated the Zimbabwean innings, with his bowling charisma, by picking six-wickets during the first Test in Dhaka today.
Winning the toss at Sher-e Bangla National Stadium, Taylor decided to bat first.
Chasing Zimbabwe's 240 runs in the first innings, Bangladesh scored 27 runs for loss of the wicket of Tamim Iqbal at stamps of Day 1.
Returning to the Test squad after a ban imposed on him by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for disciplinary reasons, allrounder Shakib charged the visiting team with his whirling charm.
He picked up 6 wickets for 59 runs with economy rate of 2.37.
Debutant leg spinner Jubair Hossain on the other hand picked up 2 wickets, while Shahadat Hossain and Tajul Islam picked one each.
Zimbabwean opener Sikandar Raza was the top scorer of the innings, 51 runs off 122 deliveries.
The two teams introduced a debutant each – Zimbabwean allrounder Tafadzwa Kamungozi and leggie Jubair Hossain for the home side.
