Schoolgirl abducted a month ago yet to be rescued
Over a month into her abduction, Kalapara police are yet to rescue a 15-year-old schoolgirl.
A resident of the upazila town, the victim is a Class X student of a local girls' school, said police.
On October 17, a gang, allegedly led by Zakaria, came on five motorbikes and kidnapped the girl while she was returning home from the house tutor's residence in the town, said the victim's mother.
The following day, a case was filed with Kalapara police station, accusing five people including Zakaria.
The sister and mother of Zakaria are now threatening us of dire consequences if we did not withdraw the case, the mother of the girl told this correspondent.
Contacted, OC of the PS said that the accused went into hiding after the incident and police were raiding different areas to arrest them.
Meanwhile, a 15-year-old domestic help, who went missing about 10 months, ago still remained untraced.
The victim hails from Dakkhin Dharandee village under Sadar upazila. She worked as a domestic help at a residence in Rajbari district town, said family sources.
“One Moniruzzaman of the same village, who was working at a local NGO in Rajbari town, took my daughter to his home in the town on January 24, assuring of paying her Tk 1,500 as monthly salary,” said the father of the victim.
The employer and his wife Baby Begum also gave me Tk 5,000 in advance at that time, he said, adding that Moniruzzaman told me that they sent our daughter to the village for celebrating the Eid-ul-Fitr but she did not return to her workplace.
I recently learnt that Moniruzzaman left Rajbari for Dhaka but my daughter still remained untraced, said the father of the girl.
On September 21, a case was filed under Woman and Child Repression Prevention Act in this connection.
S M Ziaul Haque, OC of Sadar police station, said punitive action would be taken against the offender after investigating the matter.
