Road crashes kill five, hurt 24
Five people were killed and 24 others injured in road accidents in the country yesterday.
Our Thakurgaon correspondent reports, a microbus driver was killed and its five passengers were injured when the vehicle collided head-on with a power tiller on Thakurgaon-Boda road at Sathkhamar village in Atway upazila in Panchagarh early yesterday.
The deceased was Omar Ali, 35, of Dakkhin Durgapur village. Three of the injured were admitted to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital.
Our Pabna correspondent adds, Firoza Khatun, 60, of Atghoria upazila, died as she lost balance and fell from a human hauler at Gaingar in Chatmohar upazila yesterday..
Meanwhile, Ashidur Rahman, 35, of village Provakorpara, died when a speedy truck hit the human hauler carrying him in Guakhara of the upazila.
Our Moulvibazar correspondent adds, Jahir Miah, 45, of Baniarchanj upazila, died when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw hit him in Oapda of Srimangal upazila in Habiganj yesterday.
Our Munshiganj correspondent reports, a person was killed and 19 others were injured as a bus of Baraka Paribahan collided head-on with a covered van on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Gazaria upazila yesterday.
The deceased was Shamsul Alam, 35, driver of the covered van.
