Road crashes kill 13, injure 10
Countrywide road accidents killed 13 people and injured at least 10 others yesterday.
Our Brahmanbaria correspondent reports, four people were killed and three others injured when a truck rammed a car from behind on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Shuhagpur village in Ashuganj upazila yesterday afternoon, said police.
One of the deceased was Md Nuruzzman, 30. The injured were admitted to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital.
Our staff correspondent from Chittagong reports, two persons were killed and another was injured as a truck plunged into a roadside ditch after hitting a tree in Mirsarai upazila yesterday.
The deceased were Mohammed Farhad, 42, a vegetable trader and Mohibullah Mahi, 11, son of Hafizullah of Hathazari.
Injured Zakir Hossain, 35, son of Mainuddin Mirharai, was taken to a nearby hospital.
Meanwhile, Md Rashedul Huq, 18, son of Nurul Islam, died as a truck hit him in Rangunia upazila yesterday.
Our Thakurgaon correspondent reports, three people were killed and three others injured after a bus hit a human hauler on Thakurgaon-Panchagarh highway at Bhulli Bazar intersection in Thakurgaon Sadar upazila yesterday morning.
The deceased were Juran, 30, Md Habibul Islam Habib, 26, and the human hauler driver Montu, 22.
Murad, 25, Dudu, 24, and Jinnah, 30, were undergoing treatment at Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital.
Our Bogra correspondent reports, two persons were killed and at least three others injured as a truck and an auto-rickshaw collided head-on at Shujabad Dahapara in Shajahanpur upazila yesterday morning.
Following the incident, aggrieved locals set fire to the truck. Later, police brought the situation under control.
The deceased were Jogodish Kumar Kundu, 45, and the auto-rickshaw driver Ziaur Rahman, 32.
Our Gaibandha correspondent adds, Jihad Mia, 4, son of Babu Mia, died as an auto-rickshaw ran him over in College Turning Point area on Bonarpara-Bharatkhali road in the district yesterday.
