Road crash creates tailback on Dhaka-Ctg highway
Hundreds of passengers have remained stuck on Dhaka-Chittagong highway for 12 hours till this noon due to a 27-kilometre long tailback caused by a road accident in Daudkandi upazila of Comilla.
The gridlock occurred after a vegetable-laden truck overturned on the highway in Hasaspur area in Daudkandi around 1:00am, reports a correspondent from Comilla.
Police removed the wreckage from the highway within one and a half hours but hundreds of vehicles got stuck on the both sides of the scene by then, creating the long tailback.
“Incessant rain has worsened the situation. The heavy rain beginning from the last night created holes on the highway stretching from Biswaroad of Daudkandi upazila to Kutumbar of Chandina upazila,” said Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Daudkandi Highway Police Station.
This morning, the tailback was seen on 36kms which reduced to 27kms at 12:30pm, said Md Ashraf Hasan, in-charge of Iliotganj Highway Police Outpost.
