Rival Jubo League men lock in gunfight, 7 hurt
At least seven people were injured as two groups of Juba League clashed in Charshahi union under Sadar upazila of Laxmipur district yesterday morning.
Of the injured, bullet-hit Anwar, 28, Babul, 27, and Mannan, 25 were admitted to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital. Mannan was later shifted to Noakhali Hospital as his condition deteriorated.
Quoting witnesses, police said the two groups--one led Arif and another by Mamun-locked in an altercation at a hotel at Basurhat Bazar in the morning over assaulting Charshahi union Jubo League leader Morshed Alam's brother Bablu by Mamun group in the union on Saturday night.
At one stage, Mamun's men swooped on the supporters of Arif and opened fire, leaving seven of them injured, three by bullets.
