Risky Ctg hill dwellers asked to evacuate
Divisional Hill Management Committee today issued warnings about possible landslides at Moti Jhorna and Lalkhan Bazar hill areas in Chittagong due to heavy rainfall since Saturday midnight.
The inhabitants of the two areas have been asked to evacuate their houses in the wake of incessant rainfall till this noon, Chittagong Deputy Commissioner Mejbah Uddin told our Chittagong correspondent.
Approximately 2,500 families dwell in the risky slopes of hills there.
The hill management authorities have been campaigning to vacate the areas in the advent of the monsoon.
Since 2007, landslides have claimed the lives of 166 men, women and children in the port city.
