Repeated calls for dialogue not a weakness: BNP
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said it will be a mistake for the government if it takes BNP’s repeated calls for dialogue as a weakness.
The BNP spokesperson said this in two different discussions in the capital city of Dhaka.
“Dialogue is the language of democracy as there’s no room for violence in democracy. That’s why we are repeatedly calling upon the government to sit in a dialogue to resolve the ongoing crisis in a peaceful way. But there’s no reason to treat it as our weakness,” Fakhrul said.
He said while inaugurating the ninth political workshop of BNP at a city hotel.
The BNP spokesperson condemned Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Wednesday’s remarks about BNP’s movement and dialogue offer. He said the “arrogant comment” she made is not acceptable to people as it cannot be the language of a prime minister.
About Hasina’s Friday’s comment that there is no ground under BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s feet, Fakhrul said, it is rather Hasina who has lost the ground under her feet as no people in the country has support and love for Hasina.
Claiming that their pre-January 5 election movement was cent percent successful, Fakhrul said, “Even five percent people didn’t participate in the election. So, there’s no reason to be complacent for the ruling party that our movement had failed.”
He asked the BNP leaders and activists to get ready for making the supreme sacrifice to save the country and its people by waging a strong movement against the current repressive regime.
