Raushan blasts PM
Opposition Leader Raushan Ershad today in parliament lambasted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her failure to stop misuse of formalin and food adulteration causing serious threats to public health.
Raushan, also a Jatiya Party presidium member, came down heavily on the premier for frequent load shedding and battered condition of roads in the capital city of Dhaka.
“Your government [Hasina] has failed to ensure safe foods for people. Formalin is being used desperately in almost all food items. Then how you [Hasina] claim yourself to be the daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” a lamented Raushan questioned Hasina in her winding up speech in parliament.
Addressing Hasina, Raushan said, “You can stop misuse of formalin within a day if you wish.”
Pointing to a law enacted by the Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s government to stop food adulteration, Raushan questioned Hasina, “Why have you failed to implement that law properly?”
“Being the daughter of Father of the Nation, you are not thinking about people,” an angry Raushan asserted.
Lawmakers from the treasury and opposition benches were seen smiling when Raushan was lambasting the premier.
