Rain disrupts city life
Incessant rain for the couple of days has disrupted public life in the capital causing immense sufferings to the city dwellers.
Commuters mostly school- and office-goers faced problems in reaching their destinations in the morning due to huge traffic jam triggered by the torrential rain that started from Friday.
The city’s different parts, including Baridhara, Sukrabad, Paschim Rajabazar, Green Road, Paschim Testuri Bazar and Tollabag, went under knee-deep water.
Vehicles were seen moving slowly on the streets due to the rain, creating traffic congestions in the areas.
Met office recorded 37 mm rainfall in the city in three hours till 9:00am today, said Abdul Barek, an officer of Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
Meanwhile, the Chittagong city remained inundated for the fourth consecutive day today, with a handful of vehicles plying the streets.
The non-stop rain yesterday prompted the government to issue a warning about the possibility of landslides in the hilly regions of Chittagong and Sylhet divisions.
