Rab boss quizzed over 7-murder
A government-formed committee investigating the sensational Narayanganj seven-murder today quizzed Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) Director General Mukhlesur Rahman for around two hours.
After the interrogation, the Rab boss told journalists said he had just shared the truth with the investigators.
Mukhlesur Rahman arrived at the public administration ministry at the Secretariat around 2:30pm.
Mukhlesur yesterday said he had received a letter from the committee asking him to be present at the secretariat at 2:30pm today.
The committee is supposed to quiz the Rab boss about their role in the gruesome murders, one of the committee members had said.
“Names of some Rab members have already surfaced during the investigation. We are probing whether they got involved in the incident following directives from the Rab headquarters,” he added. Earlier, the probe body questioned Col Ziaul Ahsan, additional director general of the force, in connection with the killings.
In April, seven people including Narayanganj city corporation panel mayor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker were abducted and later found dead in Narayanganj.
The committee was formed on May 7 on a High Court order.
Following the killings, several Rab personnel including three top officials of Rab-11 were arrested for their alleged involvement in the incident.
